Chabil Mar Resort

Placencia, Belize

After spending 5 days in a filthy guest house in Placencia I checked into a resort for some much needed comfort and relaxation. There aren’t a lot of luxury resorts in this part of Belize and the choice was easy – Placencia’s number one rated hotel, Chabil Mar Villas offered everything I wanted and more. Chabil Mar is a small resort, with just 20 rooms, which made it feel like I had the entire place to myself.

Just 3/4 of a mile from the center of town it was a perfect quiet and secluded location. Complimentary bicycles made getting around easy and on-site golf cart rentals made it even easier. What is it about driving golf carts around that’s so much fun!?

Indoor Luxury

The villa was a spacious 1,000 square feet and offered amenities you don’t often find in Belize or any hotel for that matter. After having no A/C in my previous accommodation it was heavenly to find a remote controlled air conditioning unit in every room of my villa. I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen instead of eating out for every meal. Oh, and did I mention I had my own washer and dryer!? No searching for laundry services when I can conveniently do it in the comfort of my room!

Master Bedroom

Sleeping on A Cloud

I’m not exaggerating when I say that this resort has the most comfortable bed I’ve ever had the pleasure of sleeping in. Someone tell them to ship me one to my next full-time home because I’ve never slept better. A second bedroom came in handy when friends met up for scuba diving needed a place to crash one night before heading home.

Outdoor Fun

Swimming Pool

The resort has two large swimming pools which were perfect for cooling off from Belize’s relentless daytime heat.

Pier

The pier was another great spot to eat lunch, listen to the water, and enjoy the views of town.

The Beach

Placencia Beach

As I previously reported Placencia’s beach was a huge letdown but at Chabil Mar’s stretch of beach it was kept clean and free of trash and seaweed. I was finally able to enjoy walking in the sand wit bare feet.

The 2 nights I spent at Chabil Mar were incredible and I wish I’d stayed longer. I highly recommend Chabil Mar if you’re searching for a luxurious place to stay in Placencia.
