Shama Sukhumvit Hotel Pool

Bangkok is known to be one of the world’s cheapest destinations, where even luxurious hotel rooms and amenities are within reach of the average traveler’s budget. During my multiple visits to the city I’ve stayed in more than 2 dozen Bangkok hotels. Today I’m sharing with you 4 of my favorites!

The Shama Sukhumvit

The Shama Sukhumvit is a 5-star ‘hotel’ of sorts – like many others in Bangkok Shama Sukhumvit is a serviced apartment. Instead of just getting a room you’ll get a fully equipped, spacious apartment. That means a kitchen, a living area, balcony, etc along with a separate bedroom. This isn’t the only serviced apartment I stayed in, but it’s definitely one of my favorites.

Serviced Apartments in Bangkok

Best of all was the amazing rooftop swimming pool (pictured at the top) at this place. The views were out of this world and I had the pool all to myself on several occasions.

In addition to the luxurious apartment the Shama also has a great location right off of Sukhumvit Road and a short distance from the Nana BTS station. Best of all, I was able to snag a room for 3 nights at over 50% off the normal rate just by visiting during Bangkok’s slow season.

The Continent Hotel

The Continent is another 5-star property, but not a serviced apartment. The rooms have a unique decor and are also spacious. Try to get one on the higher floors where you get the best city views from the windows.

The rooms are great, but what I really loved about this hotel was the swimming pool – another doozy, it’s located on the 37th floor! With nothing between you and the edge of the building put a small pane of glass it’s incredible to look out at the expansive skyline of Bangkok.

Continent Hotel

The Continent also offers a nice gym, exceptional on-site dining, and a great location in my favorite part of Sukhumvit – next to the Asok BTS station. This location has the Terminal 21 mall and access to both the BTS & MRT lines. Bangkok is at your fingertips!

S31 Hotel

S31 is another 5-star hotel right along the beloved Sukhumvit Road, although it’s a little further walk to the BTS stations. It offers all the things I expect to see at a 5-star property – nice swimming pool, gym, great food, etc.

S31 Bangkok Hotel

What really stands on at the S31 is that you can snatch up an incredible suite for $100/night that comes with floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic city views – the kind I dreamed of before visiting. Suites come with kitchenettes, large tubs, marble in the bathrooms, and king sized beds. It’s incredible value for money.

AETAS lumpini

All the hotels on my list so far have been on Sukhumvit – that’s because I love staying in the area. However, I wanted to put at least one down in a different area – Bangkok is a huge city and it’s fun to see as much of it as possible. The AETAS lumpini is right along the MRT line and near Lumpini Park – which is a great spot to visit and experience.

AETAS

Even though the AETAS is marketed as a business hotel it’s great for anyone traveling. The rooms are quite big and comfortable, and the hotel has everything on my list – pool, gym, restaurants, and great location. It’s also the cheapest of the hotels on the list, with rooms sometimes found for under $80/night.
